Young Fleet and High Standards
The Company’s focus is on a high level of safety, operational performance and maintenance of its drilling rigs, ensuring the best quality product and service to the customer.
The rig fleet consists of four, newbuild, ultra-deepwater drillships (of in-house, DrillMAX design) and four semi-submersible drilling rigs. The first three drillships were delivered in December 2007, August 2008 and August 2009; and an enhanced, ice-class version will be delivered in 2011. In building and converting rigs, Stena Drilling has pioneered some of the most leading-edge technologies and innovations in the drilling world.
DrillMAX-design Drillships
Our, in-house, DrillMAX-design Drillships are truly world rigs, suitable for international operations in both, mild and harsh environments. The units have the ability to quickly transit between projects at a speed of 12 knots; and with dual mast and offline pipe-handling systems, the DrillMAX Drillships offer great time – and therefore, cost – savings to our customers, particularly when drilling in ultra-deepwater depths of up to 10,000ft. Stena DrillMAX-ICE pushes innovation and technology even further by offering the added capability of operating in ice-infested waters, such as the Arctic. Stena DrillMAX-ICE is the first rig of its kind in the industry.
